![]() ![]() I was thinking the image had more detail and hadn't come to any conclusion as to the audio. Repeated the same for the Premiere+ and as soon as I started to mentally compare the two images my wife stated this looks and sounds more impressive. I didn't bother to dig into what resolution and audio codec was being sent rather I simply noticed it looked and sounded great. Instantly the media was playable with both video and audio. Loaded the Plex app and after registering the device to my account (via their site) I was up and running. Once indexed I left the Plex Media Server as is without any additional configuration and jumped over to my TiVo. I quickly bookmarked it and after a reboot or two Plex had access to the files and spent a jolly good time indexing the media. During configuration Plex couldn't locate the server/share so I couldn't add media to the libraries.Īs in the past and one of the reasons I really like Ubuntu (not being an expert by any means) a Google search turned up a great URL with instructions on how the "permanently" mount the remote share so Plex could access the files. Currently I have no interest in moving them to this PC. ![]() The XU4 is running Ubuntu Mate (ported for the ODROID) with SMB shares (for remote maintenance). My media files are stored on the XU4 which are typically served to clients via Kodi using NFS. At this point I was ready to configure Plex via my browser and ran into my first gotcha. Afterwards I cut/pasted the command lines from this URL to ensure it stays up to date. So for the fun of it I thought I'd install Plex Media Server and see how it goes.ĭownloading the Plex Media Server certainly was easy enough and I followed this URL for installation. Both are in casual viewing locations so I'm not overly concerned about video and audio quality. I'm using ODROIDs for media server and clients (Ubuntu XU4/LibreELEC C2) however I do have a TiVo and Roku Premiere+ which supports Plex. I only installed Windows to verify it runs and it will be available should I need instant access to a Windows only program. Currently I have it configured for dual-boot. versus using one of those PC sticks as my desktop. So I'm attempting to find a few good programs/apps I can run on it to make it worthwhile. I ended up "over building" a Fry's/Black Friday PC which it appears I like too much and won't find anyone to unload it on anyway. ![]()
